Rob Dean represents Virginia companies and their employees in cases involving non-competition agreements, non-solicitation agreements, trade secrets, computer trespass, social media ownership, and unfair competition claims. He has successfully represented clients in state and federal court.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Dean prosecuted over 200 cases, including five jury trials in his first year of practice, as Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Lynchburg. During this time, he served as a moot court judge for Boy’s State Virginia and lectured on criminal law and procedure.

During college, Mr. Dean was a research assistant with the Center for Gene Therapy at the University of Michigan Medical School. He then worked for the health care antitrust group of the Federal Trade Commission. He has interned for Judge Kenneth S. McHargh, United States Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of Ohio, and was a summer associate for Greenebaum Doll & McDonald.

While at Washington & Lee University, he served in the Rockbridge County Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney and received a pro bono service award for his work. He was an editor of the Journal of Energy, Climate, and the Environment and member of the Moot Court Executive Board.

A former basketball coach, Mr. Dean is an avid supporter of Michigan sports. He also writes a blog about using technology in legal practice. He and his wife, Jennifer, are residents of Roanoke, where she is an immigration lawyer. They enjoy running, cooking and discovering new restaurants in the Roanoke Valley.
